GM&O GP30 518 |
| Description: |
Gulf, Mobile & Ohio GP30 518 was being moved out from under the REBEL SHED at the railroad’s CANAL YARD in New Orleans. The original shed was built to protect the REBEL streamliner from getting too warm when it was parked here during the day, but after the passenger train was discontinued in 1954, it became a convenient place to service diesel locomotives laying over between their arrival on Train No. 33 in the morning and their departure on No. 32 in the evening. GM&O GP38 713 |
| Description: |
Although owned by the Illinois Central Gulf for almost 14 years, this GP38 still looked like a Gulf Mobile & Ohio locomotive. It would eventually become ICG 9532 and then Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay second 500. |
