Title:  Southern NW2 1027
Description:  On the day after Christmas in 1979 Southern Railway NW2 1027 was working on the railroad's New Orleans Terminal Co. subsidiary near the Elysian Fields Avenue overpass. Originally numbered 2236 the locomotive had spent much of its life in New Orleans, and it was retired the next year.

Description:  In the era before rampant graffiti two-and-a-half-year-old Sabine River & Northern 5072 looked as good as new as it was being interchanged between two of New Orleans' railroads at Central Avenue, The 50-foot XM car had been built by FMC in April 1976. (approximate date)

Description:  Crown Zellerbach Corporation's RS1 302 and their unnumbered ex-Lackawanna wooden caboose were photographed inside the CZC paper mill at Bogalusa. The company wouldn't let Jim Selzer photograph the equipment, but a company employee offered to take some photos for him with Jim's camera! (approximate date)

Title:  SP Transfer Run
Description:  This eastbound Southern Pacific transfer run was stopped at the east end of the Huey P. Long Bridge, waiting for a clear route through East Bridge Junction to one of the railroad's eastern connections. The train was powered by an "Alco sandwich" with RSD12 2963 and C630 3140 tucked in between GP9R 3319 and low-nose GP9 3727.

Title:  SP Extra 3735 West
Description:  Southern Pacific EXTRA 3735 WEST was heading west out of AVONDALE YARD at the George Street grade crossing. The motive power was SP GP9R 3735, Cotton Belt GP20R 4145, SP GP9R 3802 and SD45 9143. The 3735 began life as Texas & New Orleans 439, which explained the lack of an oscillating light fixture.
