Southern Commissary Car 4061
During the first several years of the Southern Railway's DEEP SOUTH STEAM EXCURSIONS from New Orleans to Hattiesburg and back, begining in 1971, I worked at the souvenir counter on commissary car 4061. Among other things, I was in charge of ordering and keeping inventory of the books, patches, post cards, goggles, gloves, watch fobs and all of the other nonconsunable things we had to sell. (Coffee, donuts, soft drinks, etc. were sold at a counter at the opposite end of the car.) Bob Scorsone captured me counting money, probably near the end of one trip, but the specific date and location were not recorded.
