Southern 193's Connection
Southern Railway train No. 193’s connection was rolling off of the HUEY P. LONG BRIDGE at WEST BRIDGE JUNCTION. The Southern had delivered the train to the Southern Pacific at the other end of the bridge, and now the train was about to enter the SP's AVONDALE YARD. The motive power was Southern SD40-2 3257, Norfolk & Western SD40-2 6134, SP SD45 8847, and Cotton Belt SD45T-2 9266. The track in the foreground is the Missouri Pacific branch from its AVONDALE YARD (on the left) to Westwego, Harvey, and Gretna.
