| Illinois Central 4-8-2 2417 was simmering away at GOVERNMENT YARD in New Orleans, just north of UNION STATION. The locomotive had been built by Lima (6886) in December 1924 and was retired in February 1960, near the very end of steam operations on the IC. The railroad retired 176 locos in 1960 and 43 in 1961.
