| Central of Georgia 50-foot flat car (FM) 11304 was carrying this interesting load on the Illinois Central Gulf’s SHORELINE BRANCH LOCAL as it made its way from Slidell to Bogalusa, Louisiana on the former main line of the Gulf Mobile & Ohio. The car had a capacity of 110,000 pounds, a load limit of 127,600 and a light weight of 49,400 pounds. It was built by the Greenville Steel Car Co. in January 1944 as a 10000-series bulkhead car (FB) and was renumbered circa 1955. (approximate date of photo) |
