The SOUTHERN CRESCENT
Southern Railway train No. 2 - the northbound SOUTHERN CRESCENT - was accelerating away from its station stop at Slidell, Louisiana behind E8A's 2928 and 6914. As built, the 2928 did not have any sublettering; but today it was wearing CNO&TP lettering on the rear of its carbody beneath its radiator grills. The 6914 originally carried NO&NE sublettering and now displayed AGS, reflecting the fact that the NO&NE had been merged into the AGS on 31 January 1969. (approximate date of photo)
