| This westbound Southern Pacific transfer run was heading up the Huey P. Long Bridge behind 10 locomotives: SD45R 7546, SSW SD45 8978, SD45R’s 7517 and 7550, SD40T-2 8321, SSW GP30 5009, GP35 6653, GP20R 4102 and GP9R’s 3877 and 3816. Two hours earlier the first five units had delivered an American President Lines stack train to the Norfolk Southern’s OLIVER YARD. From there they ran light to the east end of the bridge, and then they coupled on to the five geeps on the transfer run for the rest of their trip back to SP’s AVONDALE YARD at the west end of the bridge. |
