| Mr. Francis Goynes, vice-president and general manager of the Louisiana Midland Railway, was at the throttle of RS1 number 1111 as he helped switch a westbound train outside the railroad’s headquarters in Jena, Louisiana. Mr. Goynes was a career railroader, having worked for the West Feliciana, the original Louisiana Midland, the Illinois Central, the ICG and finally the new Louisiana Midland. He passed away in Alexandria on 24 August 1993 at the age of 71. |
