P&NW 23 and 25
Two of the Prescott & Northwestern’s three 70-ton General Electric locos were parked in their shop building at Prescott, Arkansas while their third unit was sitting outside. The 23 was serial number 32200, built in June 1954 for the P&NW; the 24 was 32283, built in April 1955 as Valley & Siletz 11; and the 25 was 32595, a very late model unit with 720 horsepower instead of 600, built in July 1956 as Sacramento Northern 202. These three units were replaced by No. 26 – a former Amtrak SSB1200 – and were scrapped about 40 years after this photo was taken.
