L&N F7B 1915
Louisville & Nashville F7B 1915 was parked on the Old East Siding at Pascagoula, Mississippi between E8A 797 and E7A 790. The locomotives had come in with a special passenger train from New Orleans, and would return the next day. The 1915 had been built in June 1950 as Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis 915, and it was renumbered L&N 1915 after the NC&StL merged with the L&N in 1957. It was equipped with a steam generator and a 61:16 (71 MPH) gear ratio, so both railroads used it in both freight and passenger service. The little lettering near the front of the unit reads DULUX 9-21-62, showing that the unit had just recently been repainted with DuPont DULUX enamel, probably just for operation on this special. The locomotive was renumbered 721 in 1965, retired in January 1971 and then traded in to EMD.
