T&P F7A 1582
Texas & Pacific F7A 1582 was at the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal engine zone, along with an E8A. The 1582 had been built on 23 January 1952 and was one of four T&P F7A’s (1500, 1501, 1581, 1582) subsequently equipped for passenger service by the railroad, with 77 MPH (60:17) gearing, boiler controls and the passenger paint scheme. The locomotives had come in on the LOUISIANA EAGLE - the overnight train from Fort Worth - and would return west at 8 P.M.
