Engine Terminal         
MP15AC 2712, four 1200-horsepower EMD, and a pair of GP9's populate the Espee's engine terminal at Lafayette. The yard here only needs a couple of switchers, so the other units will be used on the branches the originate here and at nearby New Iberia.

Michael Palmieri General Many of the locomotive servicing areas I saw in the 1970's looked like this. Almost all of them, including Lafayette, were cleaned up in the 1980's because of the EPA. Most remained in operation, but a few were closed down. 4/5/2009 12:26:10 AM
