CPKC (KCS) local LL31 was running between Metro Junction and Denton as it headed home to the yard at Wylie, Texas. The train was powered by KCS ES44AC 4844 and CP AC4400CW 8646, and had five brand new CP(KC) ET44AC units dead in tow: 7457, 7459, 7463, 7461 and 7451. BNSF had previously picked these new units up from Wabtec’s Fort Worth plant. LL31 originates in the former KCS yard at Wylie, a northern suburb of Dallas, and runs westward 53 miles to a connection with the BNSF at Metro Junction. From there, it heads southward 21 miles to BNSF’s ALLIANCE YARD in Fort Worth to interchange traffic and then it returns back to Wylie. |
