Old Alcos
Title:  Old Alcos
Description:  Here were a couple of anonymous old Alcos that were parked near Beaumont, Texas. The RS1 was built as Lake Superior & Ishpeming 1001 (79576), then it went to George Silcott, L.B. Foster and then the Sabine River & Northern where it was renumbered 101. The S4 was built as New York Central (Pittsburg & Lake Erie) 8638 (80644) and it too went to George Silcott, L.B. Foster and the SR&N. Both of the locos subsequently went to Houston Chemical Co. at Beaumont.

Continental Grain 70-tonner
Title:  Continental Grain 70-tonner
Description:  Continental Grain’s un-numbered 70-ton GE unit (28562) was built in November 1946 as Albany Northern 70, and it was subsequently Roscoe Snyder & Pacific 600 in 1969, American Grain Corp. no# at Plainview, Texas in 1971 and went to Continental Grain in 1979.

Description:  Cargill's un-numbered 80-ton GE (17894) at Channelview, Texas was built in April 1943 as U.S. Army 7279 and was acquired by Cargill in 1972.

Title:  Aerial View
Description:  This was a view looking west above the Gulf-Intracoastal Waterway at Morgan City Louisiana. The main line of the Southern Pacific's SUNSET ROUTE ran diagonally across the photo in a straight line, while old U.S. Highway 90 crossed the track in the middle of the image. The large multi-span bridge in the upper left was the Highway 90 bridge over Berwick Bay.

Description:  Illinois Central GP7 8910 and GP18 9404 were switching in the ICG yard at Hammond, Louisiana as a southbound train passed by behind GP10 8216 and two other units.

ICG Grain Train
Title:  ICG Grain Train
Description:  Illinois Central Gulf caboose 199596 was on the rear of a southbound grain train as it crossed the 7-year old concrete trestle across Pass Manchac. On the other end of the train were GP10 8216, SD40 6056, U33C 5058 and caboose 199510. The train was heading for a grain elevator along the Mississippi River, and would have to reverse direction at Kenner, just west (timetable north) of New Orleans.
