NOPSI 942
Title:  NOPSI 942
Description:  New Orleans Public Service streetcar 942 and another car were parked on the lay-over tracks at the foot of Canal Street, awaiting their next runs. The 942 had been built by the Perley A. Thomas Car Works in 1924 and was scrapped in June 1964, right after the original CANAL car line was replaced with diesel buses. Notice the end of the boxcar at the right end of the 942. It was parked on a New Orleans Public Belt siding on North Front Street, next to the Coca-Cola branch factory. (approximate date of photo)

Title:  NOPSI CANAL STATION
Description:  This was a view of the streetcar storage yard at the New Orleans Public Service’s CANAL STATION and BUS GARAGE in the 2900-block of Canal Street, as seen from Iberville Street, and the cars which can be identified were the 942, 931, 943, 932 and 930. The first three of these were scrapped after the CANAL car line was discontinued 10 years later, but the other two survive on the ST. CHARLES line. The trolleybus parking area was off to the right, on the opposite side of Iberville. (approximate date of photo)
