ICG Mays Yard |
Description: |
Five old unrebuilt Illinois Central Gulf geeps were stored at MAYS YARD, just west of New Orleans, along with GP10 8283. These were GP9’s ICG 9246 and IC 9242, GP18 IC 9425, and GP9’s 9342 and 9334. By this time, the railroad was no longer rebuilding locos, and four of these units probably never ran again, but the 9242 was sold to the Chicago Central & Pacific where it was renumbered 1742. |

Title: |
ICG Geeps |
Description: |
After the Illinois Central Gulf stopped rebuilding locomotives at its Paducah Shop in 1982, unrebuilt units and locos needing service went into storage around the railroad. Here were four GP9's, a GP10 and a GP18 in storage at Mays Yard. Ex-GM&O GP38 713, on the far right, was on a set of road power. |
