MP MP15DC 1534
Title:  MP MP15DC 1534
Description:  During most of the 1970's Missouri Pacific MP15DC's were very common around New Orleans, as units 1545-1554 had been sent here right after they were built in February 1975; but finding the 1534 at Avondale Yard a bit unusual. This unit was from the very first order of MP15DC's anywhere, MP 1530-1534, built in March 1974.

Bridge Meet
Title:  Bridge Meet
Description:  For many years, both the MP and the SP weren't particular about the power they used for transfer runs across the Huey P. Long Bridge... almost any old units would do. But in 1975, both railroads assigned brand new EMD switchers to yard and transfer service around New Orleans. Here, 2-month old SP MP15AC's 2705 and 2706 on an eastbound transfer run meet 8-month old MP MP15DC 1549 -- along with GP18 1963, MP15DC 1551 and GP38-2's 2060 and 2075 -- on a westbound grain train.

MP Bicentennial Units
Title:  MP Bicentennial Units
Description:  Missouri Pacific bicentennial geeps 1776 and 1976, along with MP15DC 1554, had just brought an eastbound transfer run across the HUEY P. LONG BRIDGE, and were now shoving their train into the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad's EAST BRIDGE YARD, where the cars would be picked up by the Southern Railway. The orange car on the right was the NOPB's fire car for the bridge.

Transfer Power
Title:  Transfer Power
Description:  Two sets of transfer power pause at the Missouri Pacific's engine house at Avondale Yard, just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans. The set on the left includes MP15DC 1554, the last of ten such units (1545-1554) built for the MP in February and March 1975 and initially assigned here. The set on the right includes L&N GP30 1013, L&N GP9 526, MP GP15-1 1612 and an unidentified Mop geep. The diesel shop was built shortly after WWII, and was razed after it was damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
