Southern Geeps |
Description: |
A quartet of Southern Railway geeps was laying over between runs in the Missouri Pacific's Avondale Yard, at the west end of the Huey P. Long Bridge. The units had come in from Birmingham on Southern train 115, and would return east on train 114. The two roads interchanged the train at the east end of the Huey P. Long Bridge. The engines were GP38 2867, GP38-2 5008, GP35 2713 and GP35m 2526. This last unit had been built as a GP30, and was rebuilt by EMD after a wreck in 1965 with the appearance of the GP35.
