SP LAAVT
Title:  SP LAAVT
Description:  Eastbound Espee train LAAVT -- the Los Angeles to Avondale Trailers -- casts its reflection in a pond just west of the Schriever depot, about 45 miles from the end of its trip. The three B30-7's were Cotton Belt 7796 along with Espee 7814 and 7858. Right behind the locomotives was SP 513339, a part of the Espee's pioneering order for 42 articulated double stack container cars 513302-513343 delivered by ACF the previous year.

SSW B30-7 7796
Title:  SSW B30-7 7796
Description:  Eastbound Espee train LAAVT -- the Los Angeles to Avondale Trailers -- had just finished doing some work at Morgan City, about 70 miles from its destination. The three B30-7's were Cotton Belt 7796 along with Espee 7814 and 7858. Notice that the 7796 still had the sound baffles mounted on the handrails next to its radiator intake. Right behind the locomotives was SP 513339, a part of the Espee's pioneering order for 42 articulated double stack container cars 513302-513343 delivered by ACF the previous year. (SP 513300 and 513301 were prototype cars built in 1977 and 1979.) This was the first time I ever saw a stack car, and when I took this photo SP 513300-513343 were the only stack cars in existence!
