GM&O RS2 1502
Title:  GM&O RS2 1502
Description:  Gulf, Mobile & Ohio RS2 1502 was at the Illinois Central Gulf’s former GM&O yard in Bogalusa, Louisiana. The locomotive had been built in December 1948 and was assigned ICG number 1502, but it was retired in 1974 before it was ever repainted. No GM&O RS2 units were repainted as ICG locos. GM&O RS2 1507
Title:  GM&O RS2 1507
Description:  Alco RS units were never common on the GM&O in New Orleans, although they did show up from time to time, especially on extra trains. We don't know why RS2 1507 is in New Orleans, but here it is switching on the south ladder track. The yard was double ended, but it was always worked from the south end. The north yard lead was the connection with the L&N.

Road crews switched the yard with road power. Sometimes inbound train No. 33's crew would take their rest in one of the house trailers at the yard, and then return to Bogalusa on No. 32. At other times, someone would drive a fresh crew down from Bogalusa for No. 32 and take No. 33's crew back home. (approximate date)

GM&O No. 33
Title:  GM&O No. 33
Description:  Something that was not seen very often on the Gulf Mobile & Ohio was a lone Alco heading across the Southern Railway's Lake Pontchartrain trestle on its way to New Orleans. The GM&O would run an extra train on regular train No. 33's schedule if there was an unusually heavy amount of southbound traffic there, or if No. 33 was running late and they wanted to get some Bogalusa cars to connecting roads at New Orleans. We don't know what the situation was here, but it made for an interesting and pleasant sight. (approximate day and month)

GM&O RS2 1511
Title:  GM&O RS2 1511
Description:  Gulf Mobile & Ohio RS2 number 1511 was heading south through Slidell along the Southern Railway's "back track" towards the Southern depot. The Alco had a few cars off of the Shoreline Branch local and was heading for the depot to exchange some paperwork with the agent; then it would back up north to the GM&O connection at North Slidell, and continue on its way to Covington.

GM&O Engines
Title:  GM&O Engines
Description:  Four months after the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio was merged into the Illinois Central Gulf, things hadn't changed much at Bogalusa; but this wouldn't last long. All of the GM&O RS2's were retired between 1973 and 1975, mostly replaced with GP10's; and the GM&O GP38's moved to other parts of the ICG. (month OK, approximate day)
