Title:  Washington-Western 72
Description:  This 4-6-0 was photographed at the Standard Gravel Co. pit at Clifton, Louisiana. It is Alco-Schenectady 54484, built in January 1914 as New Orleans-Great Northern 72. It was rebuilt with a larger Baldwin boiler (XO-14350) at Bogalusa in 1928, and was subsequently Gulf Mobile & Northern 72, Gulf Mobile & Ohio 72, Gaylord Container 72 and finally Washington-Western 72. After its removal from Clifton, it was cosmetically restored and put on display nearby at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds in Franklinton, Louisiana.

Title:  TPMPT Race Street Yard
Description:  Texas & Pacific D-10s class 4-6-0 383 and P-1ar class 4-6-2 712 were being serviced at the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD. The yard closed in 1984 and the property became the parking lot for the 1984 World’s Fair.

Description:  Texas & Pacific D-10s class 4-6-0 383 was being serviced at the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD. It had been built as a D-10 class locomotive by Alco’s Cooke Works (44498) in October 1907, was rebuilt into a D-10s class loco in July 1917 and was retired in March 1952, after being replaced in local service by new EMD SW8’s 811-816.

Title:  T&P 4-6-0 386
Description:  The Texas & Pacific local which originated at RACE STREET YARD in New Orleans was on its way back home with Ten-Wheeler 386, water car 25218 and caboose 2382. The little train had left its cars at AVONDALE YARD, at the west end of the Huey P. Long Bridge, and was operating over the New Orleans Public Belt behind Audubon Park. The 386 was one of 40 D-10 class locos that had been built by Alco’s Cooke Works in October 1907 and it was on the roster until March 1952.

Description:  Texas & Pacific D-10 class 4-6-0 388 sits underneath the sand tower at the TP-MP Terminal Railroad's Race Street engine terminal, and a transit shed along the Mississippi River can be seen in the left background. Description:  Texas & Pacific D-10s class 4-6-0 399 was on a westbound local running over the New Orleans Public Belt behind AUDUBON PARK in New Orleans. The train was on its way from the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD to AVONDALE YARD, where it would pick up its cars. The 399 had been built as a D-10 class locomotive by Alco’s Cooke Works (44514) in October 1907, was rebuilt into a D-10s class loco in May 1917 and was retired in March 1952, after being replaced in local service by new EMD SW8’s 811-818. The 399 differed from most of the D-10s locos in that it had an Elesco feedwater heater and its tender rode on Economy high-speed drop-equalized trucks.
