Title:  T&P Train No. 27
Description:  Texas & Pacific modernized Pacific 706 was rolling west over the New Orleans Public Belt, near the intersection of St. Charles and South Carrollton avenues, with train 27, the LOUISIANA DAYLIGHT. The 7-car train was made up of an express reefer, two baggage cars, a baggage-RPO car, two coaches and a diner-lounge. The two tracks in the foreground belonged to the Illinois Central, while the Mississippi River levee was on the other side of the train. (correct month, approximate day)

SP (T&NO) 0-6-0 842
Title:  SP (T&NO) 0-6-0 842
Description:  Southern Pacific 0-6-0 842 was switching cars along the Mississippi River levee, at the north end (railroad east) of Algiers Yard. The locomotive had been built by Lima (6772) in March 1924 as the 156 and was renumbered second 842 in October 1953. It was sold to Standard Sand & Gravel Co. in January 1956 (10 months after this photo) and it still exists. It moved to the Casey Jones Museum in Vaughn, Mississippi in March 1984 and then to Terry, Mississippi in May 2005. (correct month, approximate day)

Title:  L&N Train No. 10
Description:  In this photo taken from the shady side of the tracks, Louisville & Nashville 4-6-2 269 was powering northbound train No. 10 on the median of Elysian Fields Avenue at North Robertson Street in New Orleans. These tracks were removed in late 1954, after New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal was placed in full operation.(approximate date of photo)
