MSRC caboose 1605 |
Description: |
MidSouth Rail acquired about a dozen ICG cabooses, but the 1605 was one of only three painted in MSRC colors. The 1605 was used with the work train, which was based in Vicksburg. The other equipment on the train were crane 1600, gondola 1601, boxcar 1602, and flatcars 1603 and 1604. The 1605 was subsequently put on display next to the former IC Levee Street Station here in Vicksburg. |

SP Train AVHOM |
Description: |
The Southern Pacific’s AVHOM (Avondale to Houston Manifest) was leaning into the curve at Raceland Junction, Louisiana with EIGHT locomotives: SSW GP40-2 7632, SD40T-2 8569, GP40-2 7623, NS SD60 6629, NS SD50S 6504, and GP40-2’s 7645, 7661 and 7633. It was common for the SP to put two or three sets of power on this train, because there were more eastbound trains than westbound, and doing this got the extra power back to Houston. |
