L&N C420 1313 |
Description: |
When the Louisville & Nashville and the Southern Pacific began operating run-through trains through New Orleans in 1969, geeps were the most common locomotives, followed by GE units; but the L&N would occasionally provide an Alco. Such was the case this day, when L&N C420 1313 showed up behind L&N GP38 4002 and SP GP35’s 6634 and 6656 on a westbound train near Franklin Avenue. The 4-year-old Alco was still in its original paint scheme, with its road number on its hood and an emblem on its cab. (approximate date of photo) |
