Description: |
When this photo was taken, Illinois Central Gulf caboose 199480 was regularly assigned to the railroad's Shoreline Branch local between Bogalusa and Covington, Louisiana. Here it is in Covington, ready to head back to Bogalusa the next morning. The car was originally IC 9480, one of 50 cabs built by the railroad at Centralia in 1970, and was subsequently renumbered ICG 199480. |

Description: |
A pair of Southern Pacific U25B units were on a run-through train from the SP to the Louisville & Nashville in New Orleans. The train was stopped on the L&N at the Louisa Street grade crossing for a crew change. Most of the SP U25B units were taken out of service the next year because of a recession, Some were rebuilt but most were sold for scrap in 1978. (approximate date) |
