New Orleans Public Service car 1006 was inbound on the ST. CLAUDE line in the 100-block of North Rampart Street, with the New Orleans Athletic Club building in the background. This car line was replaced by gasoline-powered buses on 1 January 1949, about a year after this photo was taken. Car 1006 had been built by Perley Thomas in 1926 and was scrapped in 1949, soon after the closure of this car line. (approximate date of photo) |
