New Orleans Public Belt SW1500 number 151 was heading upriver (westbound) with a train at the foot of Canal street. The Louisville & Nashville's passenger station - which was featured in the opening scene of the movie A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE - had been located where the electrical substation is; but very little here looks the same. For example, the RIVERGATE convention center on the far left was was torn down and replaced with Harrah's Casino; while the monument in front of it, which commemorated the BATTLE OF LIBERTY PLACE, was subsequently removed. | Description: |
New Orleans Public Belt’s AVONDALE JOB was dropping down the west side of the Huey P. Long Bridge towards the Union Pacific’s AVONDALE YARD behind SW1500 151 and SW1000 105, both of which were named CREOLE BELLE. The locomotives were accidentally given the same name when the railroad named these unit in 1999 and 2000. The locos had been built in 1971, were renumbered 1501 and 1001 in 2008, and were retired in 2020. The 1501 went to S&S Sales & Leasing as SSRX 1501, while the 1001 went to the Plymouth & Lincoln Railroad as PLLX 105. PLLX operates the Hobo Railroad and Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroads in New Hampshire. |

NOPB at WEST BRIDGE JUNCTION |
| Description: |
New Orleans Public Belt SW1500 151 and SW1000 105 had just come off of the Huey P. Long Bridge with a westbound transfer run and were passing WEST BRIDGE TOWER as they entered the Union Pacific’s former Missouri Pacific AVONDALE YARD. The track in the left foreground was the former Southern Pacific main line. The tower was closed in 2017 and subsequently demolished, while the two NOPB switch engines were sold in 2020. |
