Transfer Run |
Description: |
Eastbound down the Huey Long Bridge, this was probably the 209 Job that went to the Southern Railway's Oliver Yard. The second unit was one of 20 Espee GP9's built with a low nose. |

SP-L&N Transfer Run |
Description: |
A transfer run from the Southern Pacific’s AVONDALE YARD to the Louisville & Nashville’s GENTILLY YARD was at Louisa Street on the east side of New Orleans as it approached the L&N yard. The train was powered by L&N GP30 1043, SP C630 units 3140, 3146 and 3142, SP GP9R 3341 and L&N GP40 3004. Those big Alcos disappeared from here about a year later and went into storage, then were sold for scrap in 1979. |
