AFT 4-8-4 4449
Title:  AFT 4-8-4 4449
Description:  Shortly after dawn on Thursday 13 May 1976 American Freedom Train 4-8-4 4449 and tool car PNWX 76 were heading north out of New Orleans on the Illinois Central Gulf in Kenner, Louisiana. The Freedom Train had run from New Orleans to Mobile over the Louisville & Nashville the previous Monday behind a pair of L&N geeps, because the railroad would not allow the 4449 to operate over some of the bridges along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, so the engine and tool car ran alone until they eventually caught up with their train.
